Location: Bristol
Salary: £16.00 per hour + 25% shift allowance (£20.00 p/h OTE)
Shift Pattern: Double Days (37 hours per week)
A leading precision engineering manufacturer within the aerospace sector is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join their growing team at a modern, well-invested production facility in Bristol.
Formed through the consolidation of two established precision engineering businesses, the company supplies high-tolerance machined parts and assemblies to major global aerospace OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. Backed by significant external investment, they continue to expand their capabilities across airframe, wing and landing gear components.
The Role
As a CNC Machinist specialising in twin spindle, multi-axis CNC turning centres, you will play a key role in the manufacture of complex aerospace components. The position involves online programming, setting and operating CNC lathes using Fanuc controls, working from detailed engineering drawings to exacting quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Programming
- Online programming of twin spindle, multi-axis CNC turning centres (Fanuc controlled)
- Optimising programs to improve efficiency, cycle times and accuracy
Setup & Operation
- Full machine setup for production runs
- Installing tooling, fixtures and workpieces
- Running machines and monitoring processes throughout production
- Carrying out in-process inspection and quality checks
Quality & Documentation
- Working to strict aerospace quality standards
- Supporting quality teams to resolve non-conformances
- Maintaining accurate records of programs, setups and adjustments
Collaboration
- Working closely with engineering and production teams
- Contributing to continuous improvement and best-practice machining methods
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience programming, setting and operating twin spindle, multi-axis CNC lathes
- Strong experience with Fanuc controls
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
- Solid understanding of machining principles, tooling and materials
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Desirable:
- Experience with Citizen Miyano machines
Package & Benefits:
- £16.00 per hour + 25% shift allowance (£20.00 p/h / £40,885 p.a.)
- Rising to £17.00 per hour + 25% shift allowance for competent online programmers
- 37-hour working week
- Double days:
- Mon–Thurs: 6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm
- Friday: 6am–11am / 11am–4pm
