Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer
Location: Cardiff (Trident Park)
Salary: £60,000 – £65,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
We are working with a leading UK organisation within the energy-from-waste and resource recovery sector, operating a large-scale Energy Recovery Facility. This organisation plays a key role in supporting the UK’s sustainability and carbon reduction targets.
An opportunity has arisen for an Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer to join their team at their Cardiff site.
The Role
As the EC&I Engineer, you will be responsible for all electrical, control and instrumentation engineering and maintenance activities on site, working closely with the mechanical and central engineering teams.
You will ensure the long-term reliability, performance, and compliance of the plant, supporting safe and efficient operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading EC&I maintenance and engineering activities across the plant
- Planning and delivering preventative and reactive maintenance
- Managing EC&I workshops and associated resources
- Maximising plant availability and asset performance
- Supporting the achievement of departmental financial targets
- Supervising contractors and internal teams to deliver KPIs
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of EC&I systems, equipment, and repair methods
- Experience with safe systems of work, including plant isolations and safety systems
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems
- Experience maintaining Distributed Control Systems (e.g. Siemens, Valmet or similar)
- Understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation within process, power, or heavy industry environments
- Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Proven experience supervising teams and contractors
- ONC / HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline
- Ability to operate as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP)
- Experience working on both LV and HV electrical systems
