We are recruiting on behalf of a leading UK-based beverage manufacturer, known for its commitment to producing high-quality cider products. The company operates across multiple sites, including production and packaging facilities in the Midlands and the South West, as well as orchards in the West of England.
Role Overview
The Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer will support the site’s manufacturing operations by providing engineering expertise and technical support. This role is crucial in maintaining high operational efficiency by diagnosing and resolving machine and process issues, ensuring seamless production.
You will be responsible for fault finding, repairs, and preventative maintenance on a range of equipment, including high-speed production machinery, steam boilers, cooling towers, chilling equipment, compressed air, and effluent systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine & Process Support: Provide technical expertise to ensure machinery runs efficiently and maintains production quality.
- Fault Finding & Repairs: Identify and resolve electrical/mechanical faults on medium and high-speed production equipment.
- Planned & Reactive Maintenance: Perform routine checks and scheduled maintenance on key site services.
- Production Adjustments: Assist with machine setup and adjustments for size changes and production requirements.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to industry safety standards.
- Engineering Leadership: Take the lead in engineering response when the Engineering Manager is unavailable.
Candidate Requirements
- Multi-skilled maintenance background within an industrial manufacturing/FMCG environment (Food Manufacturing preferred).
- Recognised Engineering Qualification (ONC, HNC, HND, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Experience in electro-mechanical maintenance of production equipment.
- Expertise in fault finding and component/sub-system diagnostics.
- Mechanical knowledge of pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, valves, pistons, and conveyors.
- Three-phase electrical experience.
- 17th Edition (Ideally).
- PLC experience (Not essential but advantageous).
- Previous food manufacturing experience (Beneficial but not essential).
Salary & Benefits
- Base Salary: Up to £49,725, with potential for £51,000 for highly experienced candidates.
- Overtime: Additional 6 hours/month (Sunday afternoons) at Time + ½ rate (~£2,000 per year, not guaranteed).
- Holiday Allowance:
- 0–5 years: 21 shifts (12-hour shifts)
- 5 years: 21½ shifts
- 10 years: 22½ shifts
- Bank holidays: Considered normal working days under the shift pattern. Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day must be taken as mandatory holiday if rostered to work
