Job Title: Engineering Manager
Location: Somerset/Devon
Salary: £80,000 per annum
Schedule: Monday – Friday (Days Only)
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Engineering Manager to lead and develop a high-performing engineering team within a well-established and ambitious food manufacturing organisation. The successful candidate will foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence, driving continuous improvement and sustainability across the operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & People Development: Inspire, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, ensuring engagement and continuous professional growth.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and deliver initiatives that improve operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimise plant performance.
- Culture & Collaboration: Promote a culture of open communication, teamwork, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Reliability & Maintenance Excellence: Champion proactive maintenance strategies that maximise uptime and equipment reliability.
- Sustainability & Innovation: Lead engineering initiatives that support sustainability goals, including energy efficiency and waste reduction.
- Health & Safety: Maintain a safety-first culture, ensuring full compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
About You – Qualifications & Experience:
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental compliance.
- Proven track record in an FMCG manufacturing environment, delivering sustainable improvements.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with a focus on developing teams.
- Experience managing revenue and capital budgets.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques.
- Proven ability to lead medium to large scale engineering projects from concept to completion.
- HND/Degree in Engineering (or equivalent).
- Familiarity with RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance) principles.
