Key Accountabilities
- Carry out inspection and preventative maintenance of key equipment in line with internal utilities registers and management control procedures.
- Performing routine machinery inspections and maintenance tasks.
- Diagnosing and repairing equipment breakdowns and malfunctions.
- Supporting the installation of new machinery and equipment.
- Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Understanding of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
- General facilities maintenance.
- Plumbing, pipe fitting, and compressed air systems.
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems; fitting, fault finding & repair.
- Mechanical fault finding and repair of pumps, compressors, fans & rotating machinery.
- Safe systems of work; permit systems & risk assessments.
- Providing input into the development of preventative maintenance strategies.
- Documenting all maintenance work for record-keeping purposes.
- Collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams to optimise performance.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
- Carry out routine maintenance work (reactive and PPMs) on machine tool equipment.
- Maintenance of machines within the manufacturing cell, including CNC machinery (e.g. grinding, milling and turning machines).
- Produce monthly reports for senior management, summarising key maintenance and service activities.
- Undertake any additional, reasonable and appropriate duties as required, in line with qualifications, knowledge and experience.
Expertise
- Experience working on control panels, emergency stop circuits, and 415V motors.
- Experience with inspection and testing (2391 desirable but not essential).
- Experience of machine tool service and maintenance techniques.
- Strong understanding of CNC metal cutting machinery of varying ages.
- Ability to manage conflicting manufacturing priorities, creating effective repair schedules to minimise downtime.
- Trained/licensed in access equipment, scaffold towers, and forklift trucks (PASMA/PAL preferred).
- PAT Testing Qualification (City & Guilds 2377).
- Ideally trained in the latest wiring regulations (beneficial, not essential).
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
- Awareness of PUWER, LOLER and COSHH regulations.
- Forklift licence and PAT testing certification preferred.
This role may require out-of-hours working for emergency call-outs and planned production activities.
