Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: £42,500- £45,000

About the Role:
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a skilled Maintenance Technician to join their team at a leading Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) in Exeter. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the plant by carrying out planned and reactive maintenance activities. The technician will work closely with the Operations team to maintain equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
Additionally, this role involves leading and delivering improvement projects to enhance plant performance and reduce costs. To support operational continuity, participation in an on-call rota (one week in four) is required, covering breakdowns during normal working hours, weekends, nights, and bank holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform planned maintenance tasks and respond to breakdowns efficiently.
- Identify faults and carry out necessary repairs on all mechanical plant.
- Work within health & safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with risk assessments and safe operating procedures.
- Assist in training and developing team members, including agency workers.
- Support first-line management duties, including H&S awareness, PPE distribution, and procedural adherence.
- Contribute to process improvements that enhance plant reliability and operational cost savings.

Skills & Experience Required:
- Experience carrying out planned maintenance activities.
- Strong mechanical maintenance background.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical faults.
- Experience working in a process-driven environment (heavy engineering, forces/naval, FMCG).
- Supervisory experience is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure production environment.
- Good communication and writing skills.
- Fabrication and welding skills beneficial.
On-Call & Additional Pay Details:
- On-call rota: 1 week in 4 (3 weeks off-call, 1 week on-call).
- Call-out allowance: £20 per weekday, £40 per weekend day.
- Call-out pay: 4-hour minimum payment per callout, then 1.5x overtime rate thereafter.
- Annual call-out allowance: £2,160 (before any callouts).
