Job Purpose
To efficiently assemble and test engineering products to ensure they meet strict quality, safety, and performance standards, while supporting continuous improvement across the assembly and test processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures, ensuring safe working practices for yourself and colleagues.
- Perform mechanical assembly of precision-engineered valve products using a variety of tools and assembly aids.
- Conduct high-pressure testing of valve products within dedicated test facilities.
- Follow established assembly and testing procedures without deviation, ensuring consistency and reliability.
- Maintain a high standard of work, ensuring all products are free from damage or contamination.
- Support and promote a clean, safe, and organized working environment through 5S practices.
- Prioritize work as directed by production supervision.
- Accurately book all productive and non-productive time using the company’s tracking systems.
- Monitor and align your own performance with the estimated build and test times outlined in job travellers.
- Highlight any performance issues or delays to the supervisor promptly.
- Support other duties in the assembly department as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and calibration standards for all test and assembly equipment.
Impact of the Role
- Identifying and resolving issues during assembly or testing to avoid product failures.
- Ensuring product quality prior to shipment to minimize warranty claims and returns.
- Supporting root-cause analysis and quality investigations where needed.
- Building strong technical knowledge that supports collaboration with customers and internal teams.
Required Expertise
- Completion of a full mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience.
- Proven experience in precision mechanical assembly and testing environments.
- Familiarity with small-bore subsea valve assemblies (or similar complex assemblies).
- Proficient in operating high-pressure testing equipment.
- Experience with Duplex and Nickel Alloy materials is advantageous.
- Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Competent in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) processes, including documentation and charting.
- Familiarity with pressure gauges, chart recorders, and test data recording.
- Strong attention to detail, numeracy, and literacy.
- Comfortable using MS Office, email, and standard digital tools.
