Kingston Barnes is recruiting on behalf of a market-leading engineering organisation specialising in the design and manufacture of innovative equipment for the water and environmental sectors.

The Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the mechanical and electrical assembly of specialist process equipment within a workshop environment.
Working alongside experienced engineers and technicians, you will build equipment to industry standards while ensuring the highest levels of quality, safety and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical and electrical assembly activities including fitting pumps, valves, pipework, tanks, frames and ancillary equipment.
- Install and terminate electrical wiring, cables, sensors, motors and instrumentation.
- Assemble equipment from engineering drawings, wiring schematics, work instructions and bills of materials.
- Ensure all assemblies meet required quality, technical and safety standards.
- Identify and report technical, quality or production issues and support corrective actions.
- Record build information, as-built modifications and drawing discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate inspection, testing and build documentation.
- Ensure the workshop remains clean, organised and compliant with health, safety and environmental standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency and productivity.
About You
We are keen to speak with candidates from either a mechanical or electrical background.
You may be:
- Mechanically biased with some electrical assembly or wiring experience.
- Electrically trained with mechanical assembly experience.
Skills & Experience Required
- Completed apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Ideally qualified to ONC level or equivalent.
- Experience within a mechanical and electrical assembly, manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical wiring diagrams.
- Competent using standard mechanical and electrical hand tools.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible attitude and willingness to develop new skills.
Desirable
- Experience within the water, wastewater, process engineering or related industries.
