Salary: £35,000 - £42,000 DOE
Hours: Monday-Thursday 08:15-16:45 | Friday 08:15-13:45

We are working with a well-established UK engineering and manufacturing business that specialises in the design, manufacture, assembly and refurbishment of bespoke mechanical equipment for the water and industrial sectors. With a modern manufacturing facility and an excellent reputation for quality, the company delivers engineered solutions to customers across the UK and internationally.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Assembly Fitter to join their workshop team.
The Role
As a Mechanical Assembly Fitter, you will play a key role in assembling bespoke mechanical equipment to customer specifications, ensuring all products are built to the highest quality standards and delivered on time. Working as part of a skilled production team, you will use engineering drawings and build documentation to complete mechanical assemblies while maintaining a safe and organised working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical and electrical components from engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Build complete mechanical assemblies in line with production schedules and quality standards.
- Prepare, terminate and carry out continuity testing on electrical cables where required.
- Use a variety of hand, power and pneumatic tools to complete assembly work.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions and assembly documentation.
- Complete quality inspection records, dimensional checks and production paperwork accurately.
- Operate overhead cranes and forklift trucks to move large assemblies (training provided if required).
- Load and unload deliveries safely.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures and maintain high housekeeping standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop.
About You
The successful candidate will have experience within a mechanical assembly, fitting or heavy engineering environment and be comfortable working from engineering drawings.
You will ideally have experience with:
- Mechanical fitting or assembly within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Rotating equipment such as pumps, bearings, seals, compressors, turbines or similar machinery.
- Medium to heavy engineering or industrial manufacturing.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Working to production schedules and deadlines.
- Completing manufacturing and quality documentation accurately.
- A good understanding of Health & Safety procedures.
Experience operating overhead cranes or forklift trucks would be advantageous, although training can be provided.
