Our client is an independent British business dedicated to producing high-quality yogurts, desserts, and ice cream for both their own brand and major UK retailers. Operating from multiple dairies and logistics centers across Somerset and Devon, they employ over 1,700 staff and contribute to more than 25% of the UK’s packaged yogurt market.
The Role
We are recruiting for a Skilled Engineer to join our client’s largest production facility. In this role, you will ensure that all site equipment operates efficiently and effectively. You will take a lead role in managing situations that could impact business operations, safety, environmental standards, or asset performance.
You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food safety and quality by implementing suitable controls and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) during maintenance activities. You will also use your problem-solving skills to detect and eliminate faults, inefficiencies, and abnormalities in machine operations. Additionally, you will play a key role in developing and enhancing equipment performance and reliability while sharing your expertise with colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high standards of asset care through best practices and technical expertise.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.
- Manage site assets using the CMMS system, ensuring effective planning of maintenance activities.
- Promote and enforce safe working practices for staff, contractors, and visitors.
Requirements:
- Experience working as a Maintenance Engineer.
- An appropriate engineering qualification.
- Understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
- Previous experience in food manufacturing or FMCG production is desirable but not essential.
- Preferably multi-skilled in mechanical and electrical disciplines.
- PLC experience would be an advantage.
Package & Benefits:
- Salary: £47,187 (potential to increase to over £51,905 for multi-skilled engineers).

Shifts:
- Four on, four off (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off).
- 12-hour shifts.
