Production Supervisor
Location: Bedford
Salary: Up to £34,000 + benefits
Hours: Monday–Thursday, 7:45am–4:30pm | Friday, 8:00am–12:30pm (half-day Fridays)

The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Supervisor to join the team at their assembly and testing facility in Bedford.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for leading day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets are consistently achieved. This role is ideal for a proactive and people-focused leader with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily assembly and testing activities within the production area.
- Allocate resources, schedule workloads, and monitor progress against production targets.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Lead, motivate, and develop team members through coaching, feedback, and performance reviews.
- Drive compliance with ISO, HSE, and regulatory requirements.
- Support root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions for nonconformities.
- Champion Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to enhance process reliability.
- Track and report key production metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline (or equivalent technical experience).
- Proven supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within heavy engineering, rotating equipment, or precision components.
- Strong understanding of machining, assembly, and testing processes for mechanical equipment.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kaizen, and Six Sigma.
Skills & Attributes
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Technical aptitude for mechanical systems and pump technologies.
- Proficient in production planning, ERP/MRP systems, and MS Office.
- A proactive mindset with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
