Safety & Compliance Manager

The Company
We are recruiting for a leading organisation within the energy sector that is looking to appoint an experienced Safety & Compliance Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regulated operation where you'll play a pivotal role in driving health, safety and environmental excellence while helping to develop a strong compliance culture across the site.
The Role
As the Safety & Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for the management, development and monitoring of all safety systems, procedures and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) across the facility. You'll ensure full compliance with environmental permits and licences, interpret emissions data, develop working plans and oversee auditing activities to maintain the highest operational standards.
Working closely with the Plant Manager and wider site team, you will implement policies and procedures that create a highly compliant, quality-driven environment where safety is always the number one priority. You'll manage health, safety and environmental risk assessments, method statements and Safe Systems of Work, ensuring best practice is followed to prevent incidents and accidents.

The Candidate
The successful candidate will have experience working within a highly regulated environment and be passionate about driving health, safety and environmental compliance.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience within a highly regulated, compliance-focused industrial environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, develop and motivate a team.
- Experience implementing and managing health, safety and environmental management systems.
- Knowledge of environmental permitting and regulated activities.
- Experience working with Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS).
- Good understanding of environmental legislation and waste management regulations.
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent).
- Knowledge of management standards including:
- OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001
- ISO 14001
- ISO 50001
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience within an Energy from Waste (EfW) facility or similar power generation environment.
- Knowledge of the Energy from Waste or wider power generation industry, including relevant legislation.
- Experience working within a controlled emissions environment.
Package
- Salary: £70,000 per annum
- Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
- 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays
- 7% matched pension
- Healthcare scheme
- Discretionary annual bonus of up to 14%
