A rapidly growing organisation that supplies bespoke extrusions to a wide range of market sectors, including construction, engineering, and manufacturing. The company produces products such as window and door frames and operates across two main areas within the factory: Extrusion and Thermal Bridging/Paint Line/Machining.
Job Purpose
In this role, you will be responsible for controlling inventory procedures and managing the stores area for the doors department. Key responsibilities include booking in materials, conducting quality checks, ensuring stock accuracy, and overseeing stock-related matters. You’ll also allocate components to relevant work centres and improve systems and procedures within your area of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Job-Specific Tasks
- Maintain accurate stock levels with a goal of 100% stock accuracy.
- Manage and improve stock take procedures.
- Monitor and record deliveries; perform booking-in procedures.
- Support loading and unloading activities.
- Develop and maintain efficient bin locations, goods-in, and stores areas.
- Carry out quality checks on incoming goods.
- Plan production activities while mitigating delays.
- Lead the picking team and monitor inventory to support production flow.
- Implement measures for timely stock replenishment to the production line.
- Organise and control the use of materials within your team.
- Communicate and address stock-related quality issues with the purchasing team.
- Ensure clear communication, documentation, and reporting across your department.
- Be responsible for on-time delivery performance.
Health & Safety
- Ensure completion and maintenance of Health and Safety documentation.
- Enforce company safety policies and ensure proper use of PPE.
- Report hazards, investigate near misses and accidents, and communicate solutions across departments.
- Promote a culture prioritising health, safety, and proactive problem-solving.
Quality
- Ensure all checks and documentation for incoming materials are completed.
- Keep databases up to date and report any quality issues.
- Follow all risk assessments, SOPs, and environmental policies.
- Contribute ideas for continuous improvement and innovation.
- Maintain and improve efficiency and quality standards within the department.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the stores and picking team.
- Oversee stock control and stock-taking processes.
- Support recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Plan for optimal storage space and future capacity needs.
- Forklift and combi-lift operation is beneficial (training available if needed).
Experience & Desirables
- Previous storesperson experience.
- Background in managing stores operations.
- Familiarity with MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems is desirable.
- Fork truck and combi lift certificates are advantageous.
Package & Benefits
- Hourly rate: £12.68 – £14.14 (depending on experience).
- Attendance bonus: £0.50 per hour.
- Annual salary equivalent: £25,701 – £27,573 (based on a 37.5-hour week).
- Holiday entitlement: 22 days + 8 bank holidays.
- Working hours:
- Standard: 8am – 4pm (Mon – Thurs), 7am – 3pm (Fri)
