The Role:

You will be responsible to carry out routine reactive and planned maintenance the manufacturing plant. You also will be expected to resolve any process issues that may arise and cannot be solved by the operators or need special technical assistance.

You will be required to undertake electrical and mechanical maintenance on production machinery to ensure the smooth running of the manufacturing process, in a cost-effective manner whilst meeting strict Health and Safety standards.

Experience/Qualifications

• HNC, City & Guilds or time-served apprentice with appropriate engineering qualifications.
• Experience within a similar role ideally gained within a food manufacturing environment, if not food, experience within any manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
• Electrically or biased, or multi-skilled. 
• PLC experience highly desirable.
• Experience of SAP highly desirable.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Service Technician to join the team. This is a predominantly site-based role, travelling locally with occasional UK-wide assignments. A company van will be provided.

You will:

Commission, test, and optimise new and existing electrical equipment.

Undertake service work and fault finding on electrical and control systems.

Perform site inspections and provide technical reporting.

Deliver operator training and technical support to clients.

Assist mechanical technicians where required and contribute to customer-focused solutions.

Requirements

Qualified electrician or electrical technician (apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 minimum).

Minimum 4 years’ experience in electrical maintenance/engineering, ideally industrial.

Experience with three-phase low voltage motor control panels and basic PLC knowledge.

Ability to read electrical schematics and perform fault finding.

Strong interpersonal and IT skills, confident in client-facing situations.

Full UK driving licence.

The Role

As an Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining state-of-the-art, high-speed production machinery within a modern FMCG manufacturing facility.

Your duties will include:

• Carrying out both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
• Working on high-speed, automated production equipment
• Supporting installation and project-based engineering work
• Assisting in the development and implementation of PPM schedules
• Fault finding and maintenance on electrical systems including:
  • Siemens and Mitsubishi drives
  • Motors and inverters
• Working with PLC-controlled systems (fault finding experience beneficial)

This is a hands-on, front-line maintenance role requiring the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-moving production environment

Shift Pattern & Salary

• Salary: £49,886 + £800 KPI-based bonus
• Annual pay review via Union negotiation
• 42 hours per week (Monday–Sunday rotating shift pattern)
• 22 days holiday
• 30-minute paid break per shift
• Overtime available at applicable rates

Shift Rotation:

• Week 1: Monday–Tuesday 6pm–6am, Wednesday–Sunday off
• Week 2: Monday–Tuesday 6am–6pm, Wednesday–Thursday 6pm–6am, Friday–Sunday off
• Week 3: Monday–Tuesday off, Wednesday–Thursday 6am–6pm, Friday–Sunday 6pm–6am
• Week 4: Monday–Thursday off, Friday–Sunday 6am–6pm

The Candidate

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• A strong electrical maintenance background
• A completed electrical apprenticeship with relevant qualifications
• HNC or HND (desirable)
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
• Proven fault-finding experience on drives, motors, and inverters
• Experience within FMCG, industrial manufacturing, or a similar environment
• The ability to work rotating shifts
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines

• Comfortable travelling and working as part of a two-person team

Package

• Basic salary of £36,500 with structured progression to £40,000 through a skills matrix
• Overtime available with realistic earnings of £7,000 – £8,000 per year
• Core hours: 7:00am – 3:30pm (early starts paid as overtime, door to door)
