Consumables Procurement Coordinator – 3 Month Contract potentially for longer

Salary: £30,000 – £33,000 per annum

The Company
A leading global precision manufacturing business based in Clevedon, specialising in the manufacture of high-quality components for the aerospace industry.
Due to an opportunity within their manufacturing operation, they are looking for a Consumables Procurement Coordinator to support the ongoing supply of materials and consumables across the site.
The Role
As a Consumables Procurement Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring the manufacturing site has the consumables and materials it needs to maintain a continuous flow of production.
You will work closely with suppliers, planning, manufacturing, IT and other internal departments to manage purchasing, stock levels, deliveries and supplier performance.
The role is a combination of desk-based procurement and shop-floor activity, with approximately 30–40% of your time spent on the shop floor checking in and handling consumables. The items are not heavy.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage relationships with regular suppliers via phone, email and face-to-face communication.
- Order and coordinate consumables and materials required across the manufacturing site.
- Monitor and chase outstanding deliveries to ensure materials arrive on time.
- Ensure deliveries are correctly booked in and made available to the production team.
- Monitor stock levels and maintain accurate inventory information.
- Use SAP/MRP systems to understand future requirements and manage stock accordingly.
- Work closely with Planning and Manufacturing teams to respond to upcoming and urgent requirements.
- Resolve delivery, invoicing and booking-in queries.
- Compare suppliers based on price, availability and lead times.
- Manage shelf-life items and ensure they are delivered within the required timeframe.
- Support the introduction of new suppliers where required.
- Help improve and standardise procurement processes, including SOPs, databases and reporting systems.
- Work with internal teams to ensure purchased products meet relevant health, safety and environmental requirements.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will have previous experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain or a similar coordination role, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
You will need:
- Previous procurement, purchasing or supply chain experience.
- Experience managing suppliers and chasing deliveries.
- Good understanding of stock/inventory management.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems, ideally SAP.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Good Microsoft Office skills.
- The ability to work effectively with both office-based teams and shop-floor personnel.
Desirable:
- Manufacturing or engineering experience.
- Master data management experience.
- Experience with inbound/outbound planning.
- Power BI or other reporting system experience.
- Experience improving procurement processes or creating SOPs.
Package
- £30,000 – £33,000 per annum (up to £17.16 per hour)
- 37 hours per week
