Electrical Maintenance Technician – Energy from Waste / Process Plant- Exeter

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Technician to join a busy and well-established Energy from Waste / Process Plant operation. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled electrical professional looking for a stable Monday to Friday days-based role within a heavy industrial environment.
The Role
As the Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and fault diagnosis of all electrical equipment across the plant, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the facility.
You will work closely with the Electrical Engineer and wider engineering team, supporting both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown work, while also assisting with contractor supervision and plant safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across the plant
- Fault finding, diagnosis, and rectification of electrical breakdowns
- Supporting safe and efficient plant operations at all times
- Conducting plant inspections and area safety inspections
- Assisting with contractor coordination and supervision where required
- Completing accurate maintenance reports using the CMMS system
- Carrying out risk assessments and method statements
- Ensuring compliance with site safety rules, procedures, and permit systems
- Supporting continuous improvement across maintenance and HSE performance
- Covering Electrical Engineer duties when required
- Maintaining high housekeeping standards across the workplace
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience within electrical maintenance, installation, or engineering in heavy industry, power generation, process plant, manufacturing, or similar environments
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
- Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work safely under pressure and to tight deadlines
Qualifications Required
- Relevant electrical qualifications such as City & Guilds / NVQ / BTEC / ONC / HNC (or equivalent)
- A completed recognised electrical apprenticeship
- Post-apprenticeship industrial experience within a relevant engineering environment
