Are you a hands-on Maintenance Engineer looking for a varied role where you can make a real impact on production performance, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement?
We are recruiting for a Maintenance Engineering Technician to join a well-established manufacturing business in Bridgwater. This is an excellent opportunity for an apprentice-trained engineer who enjoys a combination of planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, problem solving, and driving improvements across a busy production environment.
The Role
As a Maintenance Engineering Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring production machinery and site equipment remain safe, reliable, and operational. Working closely with the wider engineering and production teams, you will support maintenance activities while contributing to process improvements and engineering innovation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on production machinery and site equipment.
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults and implementing effective repairs to minimise downtime.
- Supporting manufacturing operations with practical engineering solutions to production challenges.
- Identifying and implementing improvements to tooling, equipment, and processes.
- Maintaining high standards of workshop housekeeping, safety, and compliance.
- Contributing to continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
- Supporting and mentoring apprentices and colleagues by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
The Candidate
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive engineer who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
To be considered, you should have:
- Apprentice-trained engineering qualification or equivalent technical certification.
- Previous experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance skills.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- A continuous improvement mindset with a proactive approach to engineering challenges.
Package
- £40,000 - £42,000 salary
- Monday to Friday shift pattern:
- 6:00am - 2:00pm
- 2:00pm - 10:00pm
- Early finish on Fridays
- Up to 4% annual bonus
